Monument aircraft MiG-17
Description:
The MiG-17 aircraft, installed near Lyceum No. 36 in honor of aviators of the 324 aviation fighter division, which was under the command of Colonel Ivan Kozhedub, was a jet fighter in Soviet times. Now it is a monument reminiscent of the great past of Soviet fighters who successfully fought in the skies over Korea.
The aircraft was developed in the late 1940s. It has been used in many armed conflicts, such as the Middle East and Vietnam.
The monument was erected in 1984.
On the fuselage of the aircraft there are 62 stars in memory of how many German aircraft were shot down by Kozhedub during the Great Patriotic War.
A similar monument is installed in the suburb of Kaluga – Vorotynsk.
