Poltoratsky Manor

village of Avchurino, Ferzikovsky district, Kaluga region

Description:

The estate of Poltoratsky is a monument of culture and history of federal significance, now under state protection.

This architectural complex, consisting of the main house and two outbuildings, was built at the end of the XVIII century, during the possession of the village of the Gagarin princes. Later, the village of Avchurino became owned by Poltoratsky – a family that was friends with Karamzin, Derzhavin and other famous personalities.

The estate was built by famous architects Vasiliev, Pelli and Stasov. As a result, a manor in the Empire style with bas-reliefs of flying glory appeared. Today, unfortunately, tourists will not be able to appreciate the former splendor, now only the ruined church and rotunda are visible. A luxurious park with fruit trees died and ponds were lowered.

The main building of the estate burned down in 1860. Now partially preserved Gothic house, western wing, linden park and “red bridge”.
