Stepanovskoye Estate

village Pavlishchevo, Yukhnovsky district, Kaluga region

Description:

Stepanovskoye Estate, founded in the second half of the XVIII century by boyars Stepanov on the bank of the Techa River, is a manor complex with outbuildings. The main building, which is now in ruins, impresses with impressive Mediterranean columns and enfilades.

The estate belonged to the wife of the artist Yaroshenko – Elizaveta Yaroshenko (née Stepanova).

Near the estate were alleys with lime trees, which today still retain their outlines.

After the revolution, the building was used for various purposes, and the entire inner value of the estate was transferred to the Kaluga museums.

Now the house is only desolate. Not so long ago, restoration work began in the estate, but they are being carried out so slowly that hopes for a speedy restoration of the estate are very small.
