248600, Russia Kaluga region, Kaluga, Pushkin str

Description:

Zolotarev Estate – built in 1808, became a bright example of palace construction in the style of Russian classicism. It is located in the center of Kaluga city. The owner of the estate Peter Maksimovich Zolotarev (1754-1831) was a wealthy merchant of the 1st guild, actively conducted trade with Moscow and personally communicated with Emperor Nicholas I.

Priceless treasures can be called the interior of the rooms and the facade of the central building, decorated with moulding, made by masters of the famous Moscow school S. P. Campioni. Numerous bas-reliefs of ancient sculptures are already a museum of decorative art. And to this day, the cast-iron lace gates and original lanterns at the entrance to the palace are admired. All the paths on the estate are paved with stone with a pattern in a large cage, which at that time was paved all of Petersburg. Also, a special delight is the beauty and luxury of the halls in the palace, especially the office, the walls of which are decorated with paintings in the form of a green grove.

In 1922, the Kaluga Regional Museum of Local History, founded in 1897 by the Scientific Archival Commission, moved to the palace of the Zolotarev estate.
