Military Historical Museum "Yukhnov - City of Military Valor"

The history of the Yukhnovsky District Museum of Local History dates back to 1963. For the 20th anniversary of the liberation of the city from the Nazi invaders, a rich material was collected. In 1963, a room was allocated in the district house of culture, where stands were hung and showcases with the first exhibits were placed. May 5, 1975 in the building of the former RK Komsomol (now the children's school of arts) was opened district museum.

In the late 1980s, the museum received a new building. Located next to the majestic memorial complex on the mass grave of those who fell during the Great Patriotic War, the museum continues this theme.

There are two exhibition halls in the museum. In the hall of the Great Patriotic War there are personal belongings of front-line soldiers, military weapons, sabers. There is also a diorama “Liberation of the city of Yukhnov”, against the background of which you can be photographed in military uniform with a machine gun. A plasma monitor is installed in the hall, which demonstrates documentary filming of the war years.

The local lore hall presents objects of peasant life, spinning wheel, loom, etc. The exposition tells about people and events related to the history of the land that forms the Yukhnovsky district.
