Kamensk State Museum of Local Lore
Kamensk-Ural Museum of Local Lore named after I.Y. Styazhkin
About the company:
The local history museum was opened to the public on May 5, 1924 on the basis of the mineralogical collection of the local historian-fellow I.Y. Styazhkin. Until 1931, it existed as a public, popular, then acquired the status of a state.
In 1955, the museum participated in the archaeological expedition of the Ural State University under the leadership of V.S. Stokolos: one of the oldest settlements of people in the Kamensky district was discovered, named after the location of the village of Luzhka, as well as the parking lots of Chernoskutovskaya, Marai and Voroninskaya. Stone tools and numerous fragments of ceramics dated to the II millennium BC were discovered. The findings marked the beginning of the archaeological collection of the museum. In 1959, the second museum building was erected, and after the construction of the third building, stylized, like the first two, under classicism, a museum complex was formed.
The pride of the museum is the artillery collection collected from samples of products of the Kamensky factory since 1733. A special collection of written sources – several thousand handwritten, typewritten and printed documents.
The museum has an archive, including a fund of copies of documents on the early history of the city (XVII-XVIII centuries). The basis of the numismatic collection is Shcherbakov, Klevakin, Chasov and Barabinsk treasures, as well as a collection of coins owned by a native of the city A.G. Stenin. The collection of photographs is represented by photographs of famous Ural photographers V.L. Metenkov, N.A. Terekhov and photographer of the Kamensky plant I.A. Sokolov.
