Granite canyon

Russia, Republic of Adygea, Maikop district

Description:

The granite canyon on the Belaya River is undoubtedly one of the most interesting natural monuments of mountain Adygea. The four-kilometer gorge is located between the village of Guzerpil and the tourist base Mountain Village. Along the gorge there is a road with observation decks over the most picturesque areas. In some places there are descents into the gorge itself.

The depth of the gorge is about two hundred meters, its walls are made of granite, changing its color from dusty pink to red-brick. In some places, the width of the gorge is no more than two meters. The current in such places is especially stormy, from afar you can hear the frenzied roar of water. Cutting its way through the granite thickness, the river left many rapids, bizarre boulders, washed grottoes and small caves in the walls of the canyon.

Driving along the gorge, you will undoubtedly appreciate the majestic nature of mountain Adygea. The extraordinary beauty of the Granite Gorge is complemented by the rocks of the Dakhov mountain range and the Trident mountains, drowning in the dense greenery of the forests. The granite gorge with its rapids and high walls attracts lovers of water sports and climbers.
