Waterfall Heart of Rufabgo

Russia, Republic of Adygea, Maikop district, Kamennomostsky settlement

Description:

The Republic of Adygea is famous for many beautiful waterfalls. Perhaps the most famous of them are the waterfalls on the Rufabgo stream - a small tributary of the White River, flowing into it near the village of Kamennomostsky. View these magnificent creations of water and stone, you can walk along the equipped tourist trail along the creek.

The third, and perhaps the most beautiful, waterfall on the stream is called the Heart of Rufabgo. According to legend, Rufabgo was a ruthless giant who held the surrounding villages in fear. Once a brave young man named Hajoch challenged the giant. Having won, Hajoch snatched Rufabgo’s heart from his chest and threw it into the waters of the stream. The heart of the giant turned into a huge stone.

This massive block, shaped like a heart, still blocks the stream. To the right of it, a stream of water breaks into the gorge, forming a two-cascade waterfall. A slightly gloomy legend, the walls of the gorge overgrown with moss and the terrible noise of the waterfall create a unique atmosphere of this place.
