The museum was founded in 1924 as a natural history museum. The first exhibits are private collections of the founder of the museum I.Y. Styazhkin. The museum is located in the building of the former office of the Kamensky State Iron Foundry built in 1825 (Arch. M.P. Malakhov) - an architectural monument located on state protection. Until 1931, the museum existed as a public museum. In 1931 it acquired state status. In 1955 the museum took part in the archaeological expedition of UrSU. It was excavated one of the oldest settlements of people on the territory of the Kamensky district, called by the location "the settlement of Luzhka", as well as the sites of Chernoskutovskaya, Marai and Voroninskaya. Found stone tools, as well as numerous fragments of pottery, which was dated 11 thousand BC. |
