Shoanin temple of the X century

You will visit the oldest architectural monument of the beginning of the X century, one of the five temples of the ancient Christian churches of Karachay-Cherkessia, preserved to this day. And you will also see the remains of a 19th-century monastery - Goergievsky hermitage.

The route begins 7 km from Karachayevsk, half an hour to the temple along a wide mountain road along the slope of Mount Shoana. The temple is working. The artful creation of Byzantine architects is worth visiting.

After the tour you can go to a small waterfall. From the temple below, there is a road to the Malaya Shoana River, walk a little, cross the river and see a waterfall of 30 meters falling in a transparent stream.
