Kargat Historical and Local Lore Museum

Kargatsky Local History Museum was opened on February 1, 1983. It occupies a worthy place in the public life of the district and is its hallmark. The museum currently has 10 rooms.

The first hall is the exhibition hall. Visitors are offered a variety of exhibitions both from the museum funds and mobile exhibitions of regional cultural institutions.

The hall "Animal World of Kargat district" presents a variety of species of birds and mammals living in the area. As well as exhibits are the bones of mammoths found in the area of the village of Ozerki Kargatsky district.

The Hall “History of Kargat” and the Hall “Being the First IDPs in Siberia” are the most beloved for people of different ages. About how the ancestors lived, it is interesting to know every visitor to the museum.

The exposition of the next hall is devoted to the development of Kargat in the 20-30s. About agriculture, public education, health care, the appearance of the first kolkhozes and state farms, as well as the first pioneer and Komsomol organizations can be found through the funds of the hall.

The next 2 halls are dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. 9,000 people went to the front, and only half of them returned home. The high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to 8 participants of the war, three full knights of the Order of Glory. Here you can see trophy items that were used during the Great Patriotic War.

The exposition of the next hall reflects the history of Kargat in the present time. On the stands there are materials about organizations, enterprises, educational institutions, masters of decorative and applied creativity.

The last hall of the museum characterizes the 1950-1960s. The post-war room is closer to the present.
