Description:

The museum was founded in autumn 1918. The basis of the museum collection was the collection of antiquities of the Kashin merchant I.Y. Kunkin and from the estates of the county. The museum is located in the building of the Church of Vodo-Jerusalem - an architectural monument of the end of the XVIII century. since 1936. Before that, the museum was located in the building of the City Duma, in a private house. The modern exposition, created in 1992, is built so that the visitor is in a peasant hut, then in a tavern or in a merchant shop, a noble living room, then on a city street. The gallery of merchant portraits of the first half of the XIX century, samples of merchant and noble costume are presented. Photos of A.A. Kolotilshchikov (1868-1958) recreate the appearance of the old Kashin.
