Kashir Museum of Local History

The Kashir Museum of Local Lore is located in the historical part of Kashira - in the most beautiful architectural monument of the early twentieth century, located in the center of the Cathedral Square next to the architectural monument of the XIX century - the Assumption Cathedral (1842).

The museum has more than 25 thousand items of storage. The exposition of the museum tells about the history of the region from ancient times to the present time. In the museum you can learn a lot of interesting things about the military fortress of Kashir XV-XVII centuries, about the life of the county merchant city and the Kashir Zemstvo.

The museum has a large section of archaeology, where you can get acquainted with archaeological artifacts found at the excavations of the Elder Kashir and Mutenko settlement (world famous monuments of the Iron Age) and other archaeological sites of the Kashir Territory. Having made a walk through the ancient city, which has preserved architectural monuments of the XVIII-XIX centuries, you can go on an amazing journey in time, learning the history of the city through the history of monuments.

The museum does a lot of exhibition work. At least 20 exhibition projects are successfully implemented annually. The exhibition halls constantly host exhibitions from the museum funds and private collections, art exhibitions of world-famous artists whose life and work are associated with Kashira. In the concert hall of the museum there are literary and musical living rooms, chamber evenings and creative meetings, museum classes and lectures in the framework of cultural and educational programs and projects.

In the Kashir Museum of Local Lore, the only interactive museum in the world in the Museum of Silver Clouds was opened, dedicated to the outstanding scientist, astronomer, the world-famous researcher of silver clouds, the benevolent churches of the Kashir District (1993-1998), the priest N.I. Grishin. It offers thematic excursions, lectures, master classes of patrolling silvery clouds using the method of N.I. Grishin, meetings with cosmonauts, scientists, astronomers, travelers.

Theater "Museion" was created at the museum in 2010. The staff and volunteers of the museum successfully play in the theater.
