About the company:
Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Musa Jalil is one of the largest Russian musical theaters. Here carefully preserve the best traditions of not only world, but also Russian and national Tatar musical culture. It is believed that the beginning of public theatrical performances refers to the end of the XVIII century, and the first separate building of the theater was built in 1803 - it was a wooden building on a stone foundation.
The formation of opera in Kazan has a rich history, opera has always coexisted with drama and operetta. Visiting opera companies often performed in the city, and regular opera seasons began in 1874, when the opera Life for the Tsar was staged, in which artists of the Kazan troupe took part. In 1934, the Tatar State Opera House was established, and two years later construction of a separate building began.
The modern building of the opera house was erected in 1956. The architects who worked on the project decorated the facades and interiors in a neoclassical style, having managed to harmoniously combine classical forms with national elements and motifs. In 2005, the building of the theater was reconstructed and received the most modern equipment, allowing you to stage performances with complex scenography - all for maximum comfort and pleasure of the audience.
