Galiaskar Kamal Tatar Academic Theatre
ooh Tatarstan, 1, Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan
About the company:
The Tatar Academic Theater named after Galiaskar Kamal appeared in 1906 thanks to a small troupe, which for the first time gave a public performance entirely in the Tatar language. It was played by the first female actress Sahibjamal Gizzatullina-Volga and Gabdulla Kariev, who later headed the troupe. Until the 20s, the theater was mobile, until it received its first premises on Gorky Street. Six years later, the theater received the status of an academic theater and moved to its current place on Tatarstan Street.
On the stage of the theater named after Galiaskar Kamal, world and national classics are staged, as well as Tatar and translated dramaturgy. Today the theater is headed by M.Kh.Salimzhanov, who devoted 36 years of his life to the theater. He formed the repertoire of the theater in its modern form, as well as organized tours in the cities of Russia, the Baltic States and Central Asia.
