Kazan

God-preserved Raifa

Description:

Raifsky Bogoroditsky Monastery is located 30 km from Kazan among the centuries-old pines of the Volga-Kama Nature Reserve. The monastery was founded in 1613 by the hermit Philaret. The monastery was considered second-class until the onset of Soviet power. During the Soviet period, the monastery was closed and desecrated. In 1992 it was handed over to the monastic brethren and since then the monastery has been restored.
The temple ensemble of the monastery includes the Trinity Cathedral, the Georgian Cathedral with the miraculous Virgin image of the XVII century, the Sofia Church (the smallest in Europe), the chapel with consecrated water "Raif spring".
We will also go to the museum of the history of the Raifa monastery, walk along the shores of the lake with “non-quaking frogs” and “Philosophical trail”.

In the summer you can plunge into the font on the monastery lake.
