OLD ISLAND-CITY OF SVIAZH. The story began in 1551, when a month near Kazan grew the fortress of Novgorod Sviyazhsky, felled in coal forests and shipped down the Volga. In Sviyazhsk in the Assumption Cathedral there are unique frescoes of the 16th century, the Trinity Church, which together with the fortress was cut down in the forests on the Upper Volga (the oldest wooden church in Russia), the Temple of All Grieving Joys, the Lazy Torzhok and much more.
