Kazan (Volga) Federal University

Kazan is the only city in Russia that has both a federal university (KFU - KSU named after V. I. Ulyanov-Lenin) and two national research universities (Technical KNRTU-KAI named after A. N. Tupolev, Technological KNRTU-KHTI named after S. M. Kirov). The Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, which appeared in Kazan, became one of the first republican Academies of Sciences in Russia and the second major multi-sectoral scientific center along with the Kazan Scientific Center of the Academy of Sciences of Russia.
