Raifa Bogoroditsky Monastery
Description:
27 km from Kazan on the beautiful territory of the Volga-Kama Nature Reserve behind the white-stone walls is located Raif Monastery. It was besieged by hostile tribes of Cheremis, Volga earlings, Pugachev detachments. It was desecrated during the Soviet era. But the monastery survived, and now it is a sacred place for all pilgrims, regardless of religion and nationality. The monastery is attractive for its isolation, beautiful architecture, holy spring, pristine nature.
