Kremlin Street and Kazan University Complex
Description:
We will walk along the Kremlin street, which begins from the Kazan Kremlin. At the very beginning you will see the complex of the active men's John-Predechensky monastery with a bell tower and a church of the mid-17th century. Before the revolution, the street was called Resurrection, and in this aristocratic, noble period of its history we will be transported. You will see the buildings of the 18-19 centuries: the former Gostiny Dvor - now the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, the building of the City Hall, where city authorities have been working for almost 200 years, the former theological seminary - now the Institute of Geology, two passages - Alexandrovsky and Chernoyarovsky. You will learn the tragic story associated with the Alexander Passage. We will admire one of the most beautiful buildings of Kazan - the house of Zinaida Ushkova, and you will learn a love story associated with it. And this street will lead us to the main building of Kazan University - the brightest example of classicism style in Kazan. Behind it is the complex of the so-called "university court": Observatory, Anatomical Theatre, Scientific Library and Chemical Laboratory, which were built almost 200 years ago and still serve the university. In front of the main building of the university, on the site, called by students "pan", you will see a monument to the young V. Ulyanov, who studied at Kazan University.
