The building permit was obtained personally from Catherine II during her stay in Kazan. There is another name - Bayskaya. In honor of (bay) Yakup Sultangaleev, on whose funds it was built. Later, the Bay Mosque passed to the care of merchants Apanayev, whose name bears to this day.

The architectural appearance of the building combines elements of “Moscow” Baroque and Tatar decorative art. The temple is oriented towards Mecca. Under Soviet rule, it was closed as a hotbed of anti-Soviet propaganda, the minaret and the ledge were destroyed, and a kindergarten was built in the building.

By the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tajikistan in 1995, the mosque was transferred to the Muslim religious community. It is located at 27 Kayuma Nasyri Street.
