ooh Karla Marx, 26, Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan 420000, Russian Federation

Description:

It is easy to recognize the only church in Kazan by the pointed characteristic turrets and the red heart in the central part of the facade.

The history of this church is full of events. The first building was built in 1771, and three years later burned down, the fire destroyed the church archive. The building, which stands today, was built according to the project of architect Khritsonovich.

The church bears the name of St. Catherine, who lived in the Roman Empire and was listed as a saint for the fact that she, even under torture, turned out to be true to her views and did not renounce her faith.

At the moment, the church is the only place in Kazan where the atmosphere of the functioning church merges with the sounds of the organ. Concerts are open for everyone to visit.

You can get to the church on foot from the Kremlin to the east towards Sheinkman Street, then turn right to the street. Kremlin, then left on the street. Mislavski, the last turn right to Marx Street, by buses, trolley buses or taxis.
