Black Lake
ooh Dzerzhinsky, Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan
Description:
Black Lake Park is located in the heart of Kazan near the Kremlin. Its location is very unusual, because, in fact, it is located in the center of Dzerzhinsky Street. On the western side is Chernyshevsky Street, on the eastern side is Lobachevsky Street. The park got its name from the name of the Black Lake, located in its western part. It has been known since the beginning of the XIX century and was famous for its clean water and the possibility of fishing.
In 1829, ledges were built along the shores of the lake, and the surrounding space was turfed and the first alleys were smashed, which became the first park area. The park was fenced with cast-iron grilles a few years later. The park quickly became a popular holiday destination due to its location in the city centre. In 1859, the first inn of merchant Belozerov was built here, now a cafe is located here.
