Su-anasa fountain
Description:
The fountain of Su Anasa was created according to the project of the famous architect-monumentalist of the Republic of Tatarstan I. N. Bashmakov. Its opening took place in 1998 in the center of Kazan on Bauman Street.
In Tatar folklore, Su Anasa is translated as the mistress of water, possessing a powerful magical power. Made of copper, the figure of a young girl sits on a block of red granite protruding above the surface of the water. She laid aside the comb with which she combed her beautiful long hair. The mermaid, squinting her eyes, raised her hands up to the sky, as if appealing to higher forces with a request to protect her city from the troubles that threaten it.
The fountain is very popular, both among local residents and guests of the city. Since its foundation, there has been a remarkable tradition of throwing small coins into the water, thereby confirming its respect for the beautiful mermaid Su Anasa.
You can reach it by metro, leaving at the station "Gabdulla Tukay Square".
