Galeian mosque

ooh Gabdully Tukaya, 40, Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan 420000, Russian Federation

Description:

The Galeev Mosque of Kazan was built at the expense of an incredibly rich merchant in the 19th century, and was further improved by the investments of wealthy people.

For many years, the mosque became a stronghold of enlightenment, and its building was engaged in the education of the local elite. In the Soviet years, the mosque housed a hotel, later - the University of Religions. However, every year the condition worsened, and gradually the building turned into picturesque ruins. Although the premises were returned to the faithful in 1997, the restoration began only in 2015 and was completed in just a year.

Externally, it was possible to preserve the historical appearance of the mosque, but the interior was replaced by a much more modern one, since the original interiors were destroyed and could not be restored. The restorers tried to compensate for the lack of authenticity with simplicity and spaciousness - it is very convenient to pray in the mosque.

The mosque is located in a place with good transport accessibility. A few minutes walk there are stops "Kolkhoz Market" and "Khudyakova Street". The mosque is ready to receive everyone until 21:30 local time.
