Cyzic Vveda Monastery

Kazan, Decembristov, 98, Cyzic Monastery

Description:

This monastery in Kazan is an architectural ensemble consisting of two churches, a chapel, a belfry and a bell tower. After announced in the thirties of the last century by the Soviet authorities course on the destruction of religious buildings, the monastery also tried to liquidate. But the museums defended it because it was a historical monument. As a result, for a long time there was a district enlistment office. And only at the beginning of the XXI century the monastery was returned to the local diocese.

The monastery received its name in honor of the memory of nine Christian martyrs martyred in the III century in the Asian city of Cyzik. There are even particles of their relics stored here.

There used to be a cemetery at the monastery. But in Soviet times it was destroyed and there was a park. In memory of famous people, once buried there, a bow cross was erected on the territory of the monastery.

There is an operating monastery complex in Kazan, on Decembristov Street, 98.
