Central Park of Culture and Rest named after Gorky

Russia, Kazan

Description:

The Central Park of Culture and Recreation of Kazan, named after Maxim Gorky, is a large and old park of Kazan. At the entrance there are monuments dedicated to the Fallen for Soviet power, as well as the Unknown Soldier.

Back in the 19th century, citizens loved to rest here, thanks to the peculiarities of the landscape, the park was popularly called “Russian Switzerland”.

Here you can walk along the spacious alleys with centuries-old trees and benches, walk along two bridges thrown over ravines, see sculptures of characters of children's fairy tales. There is also a burial place for revolutionaries in the park.

In the 2000s, due to the construction of the road and the Millennium Bridge through Kazanka, the park was partially cut down, deprived of attractions, summer stage, a famous fountain and lost its former popularity.
