ooh Mazita Gafuri, 34A building 1, Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan 420108, Russian Federation

Description:

The Iske-Tash Mosque, known to many as the Ninth Cathedral Mosque, is a historical cultural monument. There is a legend about the mosque, which says that this mosque was erected on the grave with brotherly soldiers who defended Kazan from Ivan the Terrible. Before that, a large stone was located on the site, and the temple was named after him. The mosque with two floors and halls is made in the style of classicism, like most religious buildings of the time. On top of the roof is a minaret. The mosque was the center of the Novo-Tatar Sloboda, and in Soviet times it was closed and a school was located on the territory.

In the mid-90s, the mosque was returned to believers. Iske-Tash is quite modest without unnecessary graces mosque rectangular shape. The presence of a high rounded minaret distinguishes the temple from the usual residential structure.

There is a mosque on Mazita Gafuri Street and the nearest transport stop is called Aquapark. You can get to the attraction by bus number 31 or by taxi.
