Peter and Paul Cathedral
Description:
In the distant 1723, when Russia was just waiting for a real transformation under the powerful and skillful hand of Emperor Peter I, 4 years before the capital of the Russian state will now be the great city of St. Petersburg, under the leadership of the Kazan merchant I. A. Mikhlyaev, was erected Peter and Paul Cathedral - one of the greatest historical monuments not only of the city of Kazan, but indisputably Russia as a whole.
When in 1721 the emperor of the Russian state, Peter I the Great, gave his visit to the city of Kazan, everywhere going on a Persian campaign, he stopped at the then merchant I. A. Mikhliaev, whose house stood near a small wooden church.
It turned out that the visit to the city of Kazan by Peter the Great coincided with his birthday (May 30), and there, in Kazan, the Emperor celebrated his 50th anniversary. It was in honor of this, as a sign of great respect, the merchant Mikhlyaev decided to restore the church next to his house, so much so that as a result, the Petropavlovsky Cathedral was laid in its place, today - a great historical monument.
