Tukay Square
Description:
Tukay Square is the central square of Kazan, often called the Ring.
The square was formed in the XVIII century, before that there was a swamp in its place. The area was repeatedly rebuilt and expanded. Over time, it was paved with a cobblestone, then the Kazan horse was opened on the square, and at the end of the XIX century an electric tram was launched. Since then, many public transport routes pass through the square.
The square also has an architectural ensemble, including various buildings of different styles, from Art Nouveau to High-Tech. There are a number of buildings of architectural and public importance, for example, the building of the former Central Telegraph, the main building of the Kazan Financial Institute, the former building of Tatrespotrebsoyuz, several houses of Stalinist architecture, a couple of entertainment complexes and hotels.
Getting to the square will not be a problem, as well as getting from here to anywhere in the city.
