Sultan's Mosque
ooh Gabdully Tukaya, 14/15, Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, 420022
Description:
A significant construction of Tatar architecture is the Sultanov Mosque. It is located in the center of the Starotatar settlement of Kazan, at the crossroads of G. Tukay and G. Kamal streets. The stone temple was built in accordance with the Tatar-Bulgar medieval architecture in 1868 with elements of the Romanesque style. This is a one-salt mezzanine jamiye mosque.
The patron was the merchant Ziganshi Usmanov (in his honor it is called: “Ziganshi Mosque”, “Usmanovskaya”). The first thanksgiving was to Allah in the place of worship. He set up the Qibla, the direction to Mecca. In 1931, Jamiye was destroyed and closed to worshippers. In 1990, the minaret was restored, and in 1994 it was returned to believers.
A distinctive feature of jamiya from other Muslim buildings of Kazan is the location of the entrance (at the base of the three-tier minaret), as well as the fact that it is common. Located at 14 Tukaya Street.
