About the company:

The State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan is one of the most interesting sights of Kazan. Created in 1958 on the basis of the art gallery of the State Museum of Tatarstan, it is one of the largest collections of art in Russia.

In 1967, the museum moved to a picturesque mansion, built in the early XX century, which previously housed the residence of the commander of the Kazan Military District. Since then, active work on the formation of collections begins. Currently, the collection of the fine museum has about 25 thousand items of storage - paintings, graphic works, sculpture, decorative and applied arts.

Of particular interest in the museum collection are magnificent samples of ancient Russian icon painting of the 2nd half of the XVI century, European engravings of the XV-XVI centuries, among which there are works by A. Durer and L. Leidensky. It contains the largest collection of works by N.I. Feshin in Russia, an excellent collection of paintings and graphics by I.I. Shishkin, a selection of works by the Russian avant-garde of the early XX century, and this is only part of an extensive list.
