The exposition of the museum, located in the former university church and numbering more than one and a half thousand exhibits, introduces the two-century history of Kazan University. The main section is devoted to university science - scientific schools, outstanding researchers and discoveries that brought Kazan University worldwide recognition.

Much attention is paid to the outstanding pets of the university, who studied here in different years of the XIX and XX centuries - scientists who made a significant contribution to domestic and world science, statesmen, teachers and educators, creators of works of literature and art. The exposition also reflects the role of advanced scientists and democratically minded Kazan students in the context of the socio-political life of Russia of the XIX - early XX centuries. In each section of the exposition there are many rare relics of the past and present - witnesses of different eras and events in the history of the country and the university.

In addition to the main exposition, the museum includes a memorial complex: the auditorium of the Faculty of Law and the Acting Hall, where the interiors of the XIX century are recreated, as well as the N.I. Lobachevsky Hall, an exhibition hall with a stationary exhibition "Line of Scientific Defense" (AS of the USSR in Kazan during the Great Patriotic War) and the exhibition hall "On the mezzans", where the works of talented students, graduates and teachers of the university are exhibited (painting, graphics, photographs, works of applied art).
