Description:

The museum-apartment is located in the house where Musa Jalil lived in 1940-1941, a Tatar poet who became a Hero of the Soviet Union and a posthumous laureate of the Lenin Prize.

The museum occupies two adjacent apartments, one of which is a memorial. In the second apartment there is an exhibition hall and a literary salon. The poet and his family lived in this house when he worked as the head of the literary part of the Tatar State Opera and Ballet Theater, the head of the Union of Writers of Tataria. From this house he was escorted to the front.

The museum recreates the memorial atmosphere of the 1940s. The exposition presents the personal belongings of the poet, his family's belongings, items of the era. The original exhibits were donated by the widow Amina Zalilova - a desk bought by Jalil himself in 1935, a personal library that has not been fully preserved: only 216 of the 400 books remain. Among the memorial items is a mandolin, acquired by the poet in 1934, a photo album, where photos of friends, relatives and personal photos of the poet are preserved.

In the exhibition hall there is an interactive exhibition "Visiting Musa", which is addressed to the youngest visitors. This is an imitation of the village hut in which Jalil was born. It recreates the atmosphere of the traditional Tatar life that surrounded the child, things that were used in every Tatar family. During classes, children get acquainted with the poet’s childhood, Tatar fairy tales, legends, get some economic skills.

In 2006, for the 100th anniversary of M. Jalil, a new exhibition "Poetry, Love, War" was opened in the literary and musical salon. The title of the exhibition is not a quotation from the poet’s work. It is conditional and reveals the theme of Jalil’s life and work, his struggle in the last period of his life from 1939 to 1944.

Every year on February 15, on the "Day of the Original", the museum exhibits the famous "Moabit Notebooks", written by M. Jalil in fascist dungeons.

At the museum there is a literary club "Red Chamomile".
