Porcelain plate with oriole.

Description:

M. Vrubel: "The best art is Russian porcelain."

The Imperial Porcelain Factory, founded in 1744 in St. Petersburg by decree of the daughter of Peter the Great, Empress Elizabeth, became the first porcelain enterprise in Russia and the third in Europe. It was here that the talented Russian scientist D.I. Vinogradov, a fellow student and friend of Lomonosov, discovered the secret of making “white gold”. Porcelain, created by Vinogradov, in quality was not inferior to Saxon, and in composition approached the Chinese. In the first stamps on the product put the letter W, indicating the first letter of the surname Vinogradov, and indicated the year of manufacture.

In the national museum of RT you can see a porcelain plate with the image of the oriole - almost the same age as the plant: released 20 years after its opening. No drawing from this collection, which consists of 200 plates, is repeated. The collection was released by the students of Dmitry Ivanovich Vinogradov, in honor of the great scientist who lived 38 years, went his way from brilliant success to tragic oblivion.
