About the company:
Municipal budget institution "The Local History Museum "Pomorie" of the Kem municipal district" was established in 1980. The formation of the museum fund began with 80 items reflecting the life of the Pomors and consisting of documentary materials on the history of the Karelian Pomorye, transferred by local historian I.F. Semenov. Since 1985, the museum has been housed in a building built in 1778 as the Treasury of the Kem district. Currently, the building has the status of a monument of history and culture of regional importance.
In 2020, the museum has another building built in 1900 at 6 Kamenev Street. The building is the only surviving merchant house in Kemi that belonged to the merchant - timberman A. E. Dyatlev, in which the skipper school worked, and in the Soviet years there was an orphanage and an evening school. The so-called “House of Pomor” hosts thematic exhibitions “Cabinet of merchant A. E. Dyatlev”, “From Zuyk to captain”, “Development of education in the Kemsky district”, “I want to go to the Soviet Union”, museum classes and master classes are held.
The structure of the museum also includes the folklore ensemble “Pomorianochka”, which recreates for visitors the Pomor conversation and the Pomor wedding ceremony.
