Museum-Reserve "Red Hill"

Kemerovo region, Kemerovo, str. Red slide, 17

About the company:

The Krasnaya Gorka Museum-Reserve was established in 1991 in the city of Kemerovo on the territory of a former coal mine. The Red Hill area is an open-air museum: here, on the steep bank of Tomi, a unique complex of monuments of mining and historical and cultural heritage has been preserved, located in its natural landscape environment.

Monuments are a single plot-thematic complex associated with the development of the coal industry of Kuzbass. Each of the stages of this development left its mark in the form of immovable monuments. The oldest of them is the Burning Mountain - the site of the discovery of the Kuznetsk coal basin in 1721. The mouth of one of the first galleries of the Kemerovo mine, opened in 1907, has been preserved. The oldest architectural structures in the city are the buildings of the Kopikuz Joint Stock Company, which operated in 1912-19. Residential houses and civilian buildings remained from the unique international industrial organization of the Autonomous Industrial Colony "Kuzbass" (AIC "Kuzbass"), which operated on the territory of Kuzbass in 1922-27. At this time, people of more than 30 nationalities from around the world worked at the mine.
