Kimra - the city of provincial modernity

Kimry is a small town in the Tver region. It is located on both banks of the Volga and the Kimrki River flowing into it. It was first mentioned in the charter of Ivan the Terrible from 1546. The status of the city received in 1917. A special glory of the city brought the shoe industry. In the local history Museum of Kimr you can get acquainted with the only exhibition of shoes in Russia.
In the tour route, acquaintance with the historical buildings of the 19th century in the style of "Stone Art Nouveau", "Wooden Art Nouveau", a monument to a native of the Kimr district, aircraft designer A. Tupolev, the Ascension Church of 1813, the Volga River embankment, a visit to the Transfiguration Cathedral of 1911.
