Kineshma/Sightseeing tour

Kineshma stretches along the Volga for almost 15 km. Today it is a provincial town with new buildings and a private sector, a cargo port and abandoned factories. Of course, we won't watch it all.

We will go to the center, where in the XV century the city began. Where on the remains of the rampart now Volga Boulevard is a favorite place for walks. Where the Assumption and Trinity Cathedrals stretch into the sky, they can be seen from the river for many kilometers.

The main points of our excursion: the open-air museum of military equipment - Nikolsky Bridge (unusual and unexpected for a provincial city) - Revolution Square and the history of the Kineshem militia - the city center, its history, crafts and the coat of arms granted by Catherine 2 - Volga Boulevard, Ostrovsky Theater, civil architecture of the XIX-XX centuries. - Trinity-Uspensky Cathedral, where Emperor Nicholas I visited.

What can be added to our tour:

• In summer, a water trip along the Volga (paid separately);
• Visit to the historical museum, the Museum of the merchant family and the Museum of boots (payment of the entrance ticket);
• a visit to the art gallery, where you can buy works by contemporary authors (payment of an entrance ticket);
• external inspection of the abandoned estate of the Sevryugovs on the outskirts of the city; external inspection of the estate of N. P. Ruzsky, where restoration work is being carried out (it looks especially interesting in contrast with the estate of the Sevryugovs, both belong to architectural monuments);
• moving to the village of Shchelykovo - museum-reserve named after A. N. Ostrovsky + since you get here, you really need to get to the St. Nicholas Church in the village of Nikolo-Berezhka (+1.5 km), where there is a two-storey temple, shaped like a ship, with fully preserved interior decoration of the XVIII century in the Baroque style and, to all this, in the church fence of the grave of A. N. Ostrovsky, his wife and daughter;
• Moving to Vichuga, the city of white columns (see separate tour).

If you turn off the track on a good country asphalt road, you can drive to Paleh and Shuya, then this is a ready-made tour for the whole day.
