; The museum was opened on May 1, 1935, originally as a memorial dedicated to the life and work of Kirov, who made a significant contribution to the development of the Khibiny Territory. In 1993, the museum changed its status - now it is a local history museum with a memorial to S.M. Kirov and an exhibition hall. The permanent exhibition presents authentic exhibits reflecting the history of the study of Khibin, closely associated with academician A. E. Fersman: the creation of the apatite industry in the Kola Peninsula, the construction of Khibinogorsk (Kirovsk). A separate hall is dedicated to Kirovsk and Kirov residents during the Second World War. In 1995, a new exhibition hall was opened - "Peculiarities of nature and ecology of Khibin". The main exhibit of the museum is the house of geologists, where on January 1, 1930, under the chairmanship of S.M. Kirov, a meeting was held that decided the fate of the Khibinsk Territory. Here restored the home environment of the 30s. The museum continues to acquire funds reflecting the modern history of the city and the district. The main audience of the museum is schoolchildren, students, guests of the city. |
The museum is located in a barracks type building, built in 1929. |
