The famous Ring Mountain belongs to the natural monuments of the Stavropol Territory, is a rock formation, which is located on the outskirts of the city line of Kislovodsk. The height of the cape of the Borgustan Range is 871 meters, and its composition is sandstone, which is dotted with cavities of natural origin, which appeared under the influence of winds, as well as erosion changes. The through cave in the form of a “ring” has a diameter of 8-10 m.
Mention of this natural attraction can be found in the famous novel “Hero of our time” (M. Y. Lermontov). The landscape monument “Ring-mountain” is just a huge number of ancient legends, including the Nart epic about the exploits of the Knight Aref. The Ring Mountain is a museum object of the State Museum-Reserve located in the city of Pyatigorsk.
