Kislovodsk, Stavropol Territory, Russia
Description:
One of the main attractions of Kislovodsk is the Monument to doctors of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, installed opposite the resort council, near the Main Narzan baths. In 1980, on the second day of the All-Union meeting of military doctors, a rally was held and a monument was laid in the center of the Resort Boulevard. The opening ceremony was attended by Doctor of Medical Sciences E. A. Dyskin and Hero of Socialist Labor N. M. Amosov. The city of Kislovodsk took an active part in the Great Patriotic War. Thanks to the local doctors, about 60,000 soldiers were returned to service. After the liberation from the German occupation, there were about 50 hospitals in the city.
The monument to the doctors of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 is a huge concrete arch with a cross engraved inside, in front of which is the figure of a woman, symbolizing one of those fearless nurses who desperately fought for the lives of wounded soldiers. The monument is located on a low granite pedestal, always decorated with wreaths of live flowers. A wide concrete alley leads to the monument, on both sides of which there are neat well-groomed flower beds.
