St. Nicholas Cathedral
Description:
The main temple of Kislovodsky deanery is St. Nicholas Cathedral, built in honor of Nicholas the Wonderworker.
The first wooden temple was built on this site in 1803. After 80 years, a stone temple was built, and next to it a 5-tier bell tower was built.
In Soviet times, the buildings were blown up. The temple was restored only in 1991. In 2006, works on painting the altar were started by honored Russian artist Nikolai Vdovkin. The new 5-head cathedral with a height of 54 meters was consecrated on May 22, 2008. The new cathedral was built with the utmost resemblance to the stone cathedral, which was blown up under Soviet rule.
In 2012, the entire cathedral was completed.
