Kislovodsk

Bermamyt Plateau, Pink Stalactite Caves, Honey Falls, Ring Mountain

Description:

Open to all winds flat peak of Bermamyt is a wonderful panoramic point, offering a rare view of the giant massif of Elbrus from about 30 kilometers. It forms a large plateau, rising 2600 meters above sea level and steeply breaking in the direction of Elbrus. The road goes along the steep cliffs of the Berezovsky gorge, and then through lush subalpine meadows.

The most interesting sight in Bermamyt is the dawn.

As soon as the first rays of the sun appear, Elbrus is enveloped by a light fog. The sun rises higher, the fog on Elbrus thickens more and covers the snow-white peaks. But after about an hour, the entire jagged peak of the Caucasian ridge stands out on the blue background of the southern sky.

In the early morning in Bermamyt you can sometimes see the so-called Brokken ghost. In the clouds there is a rainbow circle, inside which in an enlarged form the figures of tourists. Every movement, as in cinema, is transmitted accurately. These rainbow circles sometimes last a long time, sometimes quickly disappear.

These "ghosts" are nothing but an increase in the shadow of figures against the background of thick cirrus clouds located on the opposite side of the rising sun. Rainbow circles arise due to diffraction (refraction and decomposition in the spectrum) of light rays by ice crystals in cirrus clouds.

By the way, this plateau is known to people from the film The Headless Horseman, filmed in the Soviet Union.

Stalactite caves

Few of the locals know that in the distant vicinity of Kislovodsk there is a Stalactite cave. It is a rather large, oblong hall, with several narrow branches. Somewhere in the dark mysterious depths you can hear the deaf noise of an underground waterfall or river.

Branches in the cave are impassable, so it is not known where they lead and what their length is. It is possible that no one has yet explored the passages connected with other underground grottoes and halls.

The walls of the cave and the ceiling are covered with bizarre stalactites. The cave is immersed in eternal twilight, although light penetrates a sufficiently large entrance, in front of which a small waterfall noises incessantly.

When the river Stalaktitka flows through the beam into Eshkakon, the source of narzan is. Near the stalactite caves in the rock carved head with horns.

Well, as a bonus, in addition to the caves, people have the opportunity to look at the Eshkakon reservoir, the entrance to which is jealously guarded at the entrance below. The water in the reservoir is a beautiful green color and the shape of the reservoir is cut by the gorge.

Do not forget cameras, stunning photos of Elbrus from Bermamyt will do for memory.

Honey waterfalls

The largest waterfall - "Honey" - falls from a height of 18 meters, the waterfall is smaller - from six meters, surrounded by stone blocks beat two more waterfalls, which are separated from each other by a collapse. Of course, the height and power of the waterfalls is not comparable to the height of Angel or Victoria Falls. But Honey waterfalls are loved by tourists for the fabulous beauty of nature around.

Under the scorching summer sun, the water of “Honey” shimmers with all the colors of the rainbow. A fog is formed over the gorge, enveloping the slopes of the mountains. Even on the hottest day in the shade of vegetation near the waterfall is always cool and fresh.

Despite the possibility of a car walk to the waterfalls, preference should be given to the hiking route, so that you can appreciate the full power of the Caucasian mountains and enjoy the sounds of the surrounding nature: the singing of birds, the roar of water, which is heard from the gorge. Opening landscapes from the Honey waterfalls will allow you to enjoy a panoramic view of the mountains.
