About the company:
The house-museum of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, located in Klina, is the oldest memorial museum in Russia dedicated to music. It was founded in 1894, a year after the death of the great composer who spent his last years of life in Klin and its surroundings - from 1885 to 1893. The memorial museum is located in a house that the composer rented from the local magistrate Sakharov.
The main inspiration for the creation of the museum was the brother of Peter Ilyich. In 1915, Modest Tchaikovsky made a will, according to which the Museum in Klin was to be transferred to the Moscow branch of the Russian Musical Society. Thus, the museum became a public domain, a monument of musical culture. After the revolution, the museum was nationalized and received the status of a state museum. This happened in 1921.
The creators of the museum tried to preserve the atmosphere of those years when Tchaikovsky lived here, and they managed to do this to the fullest – the composer’s personal belongings, his personal library and archive of documents were preserved in the house. The museum collection is very extensive and includes about 200 thousand different items. The structure of the museum.
