About the company:
Museum-estate of D.I. Mendeleev "Boblovo" is located in the village of the same name and is one of the few museums dedicated to outstanding Russian scientists. This estate was acquired by the famous chemist in the 60s of the XIX century, and in the following years he preferred to spend a summer vacation here. The wife of the scientist loved these lands, admired the local beauty and secluded atmosphere. In Boblovo, many famous scientists, inventors, artists came to visit Mendeleev.
The main manor house was designed by Mendeleev himself, and one of the parks was helped by the artist Arkhip Kuindzhi. While in Boblovo, Mendeleev not only enjoyed his vacation, but also did not stop his scientific activities - conducted experiments in the field of agrochemistry, studied aeronautics. While in Boblovo, in the summer of 1887, Mendeleev made a famous flight on a stratostat developed by him. Rising to a height of more than 3 km, the stratostat covered about a hundred kilometers and landed three hours later near the estate of M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin. It was in Boblovo that the daughter of the scientist Lyubov Dmitrievna met the young poet Alexander Blok, who later joined their fates.
After the revolution, the estate in Boblovo was destroyed and burned as a result of a peasant rebellion. From numerous buildings, only one house has survived, in which the main exposition is located. The collection of the museum includes personal belongings of the scientist and archival documents, a collection of items of peasant life, an extensive library. Visitors can also see models reconstructing the former appearance of the estate and its surroundings.
