About the company:
In 1914, the artist Gennady Alexandrovich Ladyzhensky founded a private museum in Kologriv. In 1918, after the establishment of Soviet power in Kologriv, this museum was reorganized into a state art and historical museum. Its basis was a private collection of paintings, antiquities, a collection of weapons, carpets, porcelain, bronze.
On October 26, 1919, on the recommendation of Commissioner F. S. Chumbarov-Luchinsky, on the basis of the collection of local historian V. P. Chistyakov, a second museum, local lore, was opened in Kologriv. In 1921, the People’s Commissariat of Education of the RSFSR took museum valuables under protection, and on February 18 the museum was issued a certificate of protection, and the former home of the millionaire Makarov was assigned to it.
In 1925, both museums, local history and art-historical, were merged. The United Museum is located in the house of Makarov. In 1930-1940 the activity of the museum is characterized by the scope of collecting and exposition work.
The first section exhibits fossilized body parts and shells of marine animals of the Jurassic Sea, the bones of a mammoth and a cave bear found in the Kologrivsky district. The second section contains exhibits characterizing the life of pre-revolutionary Russia. A great place is occupied by the paintings of G.A. Ladyzhensky.
