Museum of the provincial city of Kostroma
About the company:
Kostroma Provincial City is a new museum in Kostroma, created by people who love their city and remember its history. Here visitors will be able to get acquainted with the real merchant Kostroma, plunge into the atmosphere of a provincial city, as well as see the famous Kostroma Trading Rows throughout the country.
Today, the Kostroma Rows is perhaps the only such complex in Russia, which, firstly, has preserved such a number of historical stone buildings, and secondly, still fulfills its direct purpose - there are operating trade pavilions. "Provincial city of Kostroma" is located in the historical retail store of Small Rows, built in the mid-19th century. Each guest of the museum first notices the special location of the halls, the height of the ceilings and the features of brickwork.
At the permanent exhibition “Kostroma Trade”, the museum guests will learn everything about trade in the 19th century: what were the names of famous Kostroma merchants, what they sold, how they withstood quite tough competition at that time, what marketing and advertising moves they used and how these techniques work to this day. The exhibition presents private collections of glass, the first postcards and guides, business cards, glass cutters, pharmaceutical products and other interesting details.
Interactive exhibition "The Calling Witness of History". Here visitors will get acquainted with the history of the famous Kostroma bell-mowery Serapion Zabenkin and the fate of Kostroma temples. In the same hall you can see a unique collection of royal chords, curly bottles, carriages, as well as more than 300 different bells.
The exhibition "Kostromichi on Defense of the Fatherland" presents the pages of the military history of the Kostroma Territory in wars and military conflicts of the XX century.
