Yes, the Kostroma Holy Trinity Ipatiev Monastery is known primarily as the cradle of the royal Romanov dynasty. It was here that Mikhail Romanov, who laid the foundation of this dynasty, hid from the detachments of Polish interventionists during the Time of Troubles, it was from here that he was called to the kingdom.
However, historical ties to the royal family are not the only reason to visit this most famous landmark of Kostroma. There are still disputes among historians and local historians regarding the exact date of the foundation of the monastery, but they all agree that Ipatiy is one of the oldest monasteries in northeastern Russia. It is here that the oldest preserved stone buildings in Kostroma are located.
Here you can see one of the masterpieces of Russian painting of the XVII century - the painting of the walls of the Trinity Cathedral, made by the famous "isographs of the city of Kostroma" under the leadership of Guri Nikitin. The monastery is connected with the history and another famous boyar family: in the subclets of its cathedrals for several centuries, the rest of the Godunov family was found.
During the tour, we will get acquainted with the centuries-old history of the monastery and its traditions, visit one of the most impressive temples of the Golden Ring - the Trinity Cathedral, as well as the tombs of the patrons of the monastery, the Godunov family.
The “Romanov” part of its history will not be ignored: in the Chambers of the Romanov boyars I will tell you about the stay in the monastery of young Mikhail Romanov, as well as about other visits here of the august persons who left their mark in the history of Kostroma.

Запоминающаяся экскурсия с гидом Юлией Были с Юлией на экскурсии по Ипатьевскому монастырю. Помимо глубоких знаний и любви к своему делу, Юлия обладает неповторимой манерой рассказывать с юмором, иногда с иронией, живо и захватывающе. Скучно не было ни минуты. Мы заказали с мужем экскурсию по Ипатьевскому монастырю. С Юлей было так интересно, познавательно, живо. Не скучно совсем. 2 часа пролетело как минута. Юля великолепный рассказчик, история у нее прям живая, с юмором. Я пожалела, что не взяла экскурсию по Костроме. Но будет повод вернуться и пообщаться с Юлей еще. Спасибо огромное, Юля.
