Sweet to Nerecht's heart...
Description:
Sweet to the heart of Nerecht... – this is what the most famous non-Rekhtskaya Elizaveta Alexandrovna Dyakonova, one of the first Russian feminists, a student of the Sorbonne, a writer, who was highly appreciated by her contemporaries, called her hometown. But it is worth coming to Nerechta not only to see the house in which Liza Dyakonova spent her childhood. Nerekhta is really very nice: this quiet provincial town, unhurried and cozy, thanks to the preserved architecture and atmosphere of Russian antiquity, is one of the most interesting places in the Kostroma region – and possibly the whole of central Russia.
On Nerekhta you need to walk slowly, without haste, looking at the carved plasters on merchant houses, admiring the intricate knit of ancient churches and bell towers, about which Vasily Rozanov wrote: "Only in Moscow there are such beautiful churches as ... in Nerekht, but I do not know whether Moscow will compare. Here is our provincial taste, the sweet taste that gave lace and aroma to such Volga creatures as, for example, Goncharov’s “Break”.
During the tour, we will walk along the picturesque streets of the historical center of the city, see, and if possible visit local temples, take stunning photos over the bend of the river - Nerechta is very photogenic, and wonderful photos are obtained here even from beginner photographers. We will also visit the recently opened theme park "Tkatsky Dvor" - after all, Nerekhta was once one of the largest centers of textile production in the Kostroma province. The park is located on a hill from which the entire ancient city is visible as in the palm of your hand.
At your request, we will continue our acquaintance with the textile past of Nerechta and the history of local merchants in the halls of the Nerecht Museum, which is located in the historical building of the former factory hospital. We can also go to the nearby Trinity-Sypanov monastery to venerate the relics of St. Pachomius of Nerecht and collect water from the holy spring, as well as climb the monastery hill for healing from all ailments.
The road to Nerekhta takes about 40 minutes and passes through the picturesque Kostroma forests and villages. If you are not by car, there is transport - however, it is advisable to warn about this not on the eve of the tour. Anyway, let's go to Nerechta!
